Microtra features

Keep the receipt with the cost it explains.

Microtra is a receipt tracker app for recording expenses and attaching receipt photos. Add the category, tax and any billable client cost yourself. Automated receipt reading and accounting sync are coming soon; a photo does not fill in the expense for you.

Capture the evidence while it is close at hand

Attach a receipt photo to the expense rather than leaving the picture separate from the record. Make sure the supplier, items and total are readable before you put the paper away. The photo provides context for your review; it is not a promise that a cost qualifies for a tax deduction.

Choose a category that helps you review spending

Record expenses with categories and tax details. Materials for a client visit, general supplies and other business costs can have different meanings when you review the business. Use categories consistently, and ask your accountant how to handle a cost you cannot confidently classify.

Identify a cost that belongs to a client

Microtra supports billable client costs. Keep a purchased part or other agreed reimbursable expense distinct from general overhead, then review the client arrangement before billing it. Having a receipt does not by itself mean the client agreed to pay that charge.

Read expenses alongside the rest of the business

Reports cover income, expenses, outstanding invoices and cash, with views by client, item, job and tax. Each currency is shown separately. This gives a cost a place beside the work and recorded income rather than treating a folder of receipt images as the full financial picture.

Export records for a closer review

CSV and PDF reports are available, backed by a double-entry ledger. Use exports when discussing the records with your accountant or reviewing them outside the app. Accounting sync is coming soon, so an export does not automatically update another accounting system.

How it works.

  1. Create the expense record and enter the business cost and tax details from your receipt.
  2. Select a useful category, attach a clear receipt photo and identify any billable client cost.
  3. Review expenses with the income, cash and outstanding-invoice reports, keeping currencies separate.
  4. Export the relevant CSV or PDF report for your own review or discussion with an accountant.
Coming soon

What is still on the way.

Automated receipt reading and accounting sync are coming soon.

Useful answers.

Will taking a photo enter the receipt amounts?

Automated receipt reading is coming soon. Enter the expense details yourself and attach the photo as supporting context.

Can I track a purchase that the client will reimburse?

Billable client costs are supported. Check the agreement and the recorded expense before adding a charge to the client's bill.

Are reports available as files?

Yes. Microtra supports CSV and PDF report exports. Choose the relevant report and review its period, records and currency before sharing it.

Does the app decide whether an expense is deductible?

No. It records business information and provides reports. Ask a qualified tax professional about deductibility and the supporting records your business should keep.
