Software for flooring installers

Carry the room details all the way to the invoice.

A floating floor in an occupied home, a carpet replacement and a tile installation need different preparation and handover. Keep the rooms, selected product, agreed removal and installation scope connected to the client, so the final account can be read alongside the original offer.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

The room measurement is only part of the quote

Doorways, stairs, thresholds and transitions can change material and labor needs. Record what is included alongside the area you measured. Separate floor preparation, furniture moving and disposal where they form part of the service instead of leaving them assumed.

Product decisions arrive in fragments

A client may choose a different plank, underlay or edge finish after the site visit. Keep the agreed choice with the estimate before purchasing. The installation team needs the approved specification rather than a remembered sample from an earlier conversation.

The next stage depends on the room

Delivery, removal, preparation and fitting may happen on different visits. Note access and coordination with other trades, and decide readiness through your professional process. The calendar helps organize the plan but cannot assess the subfloor or material conditions.

How Microtra helps

Keep the business connected.

Use the tools that fit your day, with your records ready on your phone or on the web.

Turn measured scope into clear items

Use estimate items and quantities for the selected flooring, underlay, transitions, removal and labor. Calculate material requirements yourself. Microtra does not read floor plans, optimize cutting layouts or perform a flooring takeoff.

Keep the rooms tied to the property

Store client and linked property details, then use job notes and photos to describe rooms, access and approved choices. The record helps explain the work without pretending a photograph establishes moisture levels or substrate suitability.

Reserve the installation sequence

Add appointments for the visits you arrange and assign staff. Check working hours, time off and the work still outstanding before confirming dates. You manage coordination with deliveries and other contractors directly.

Collect the costs behind the fitted floor

Enter product purchases, hire and disposal expenses with receipt photos. Track staff hours manually or with the timer where useful. Stock starts off; enable it in Modules & terms before using inventory or purchase orders for materials.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Survey and describe the rooms

Measure the work using your own methods and discuss product choices, preparation and exclusions. Make stairs, door trims and removal responsibilities explicit before the estimate is accepted.

  2. Check the approved materials

Confirm the product and quantities before ordering. Save any change in the job notes and discuss the effect on the estimate instead of letting a substituted finish reach the client as a surprise.

  3. Arrange fitting around readiness

Set the job appointments after checking site access and your professional installation requirements. Record hours, costs and approved extra work as the installation progresses rather than rebuilding them after leaving.

  4. Close the room and the account

Walk through the completed scope with the client and explain any remaining work. Review the final invoice, share its PDF and record the payment, keeping technical care guidance in your normal handover.

A few useful answers

Questions from flooring installers.

Does this calculate flooring waste or cuts?

No. Use your measurements, supplier guidance and specialist methods to determine quantities and cutting needs. Enter the resulting material items into the estimate. The app does not generate a laying pattern or verify that ordered quantities will be sufficient.

Can I keep separate rooms in the scope?

Yes. Use descriptive item and job notes so the client can identify the rooms and tasks covered. Trades & construction gives you Job, Client and Properties, with the property linked to the person responsible for the account.

How can I explain additional floor preparation?

Discuss the condition and added work with the client, record the agreement and update the estimate or invoice description as appropriate. Photos and cost entries support the record, but do not independently authorize an additional charge.

Will Microtra choose an installation method?

No. It organizes business work, time and billing. Product compatibility, subfloor assessment, acclimation and installation methods remain your professional responsibility. Use the applicable product instructions and specialist tools rather than treating a scheduled date as approval to install.
