Software for drywall contractors

Keep the board work and the business work connected.

Hanging board, taping seams and returning for sanding create different demands on a drywall crew. Build the business record around rooms, finish expectations and access, with the estimate, crew time and invoice connected to the property where the work happens.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

A wall area alone is not a scope

Ceiling height, openings, board type and the requested finish can change the work behind the measurements. Write what you measured and what the estimate includes, keeping insulation, demolition and painting separate when those belong to another scope.

Return visits disappear in the diary

Hanging, coating and sanding may need separate site visits. A handover to another trade is harder when everyone is looking at an old start date. Plan each visit around your own assessment of readiness and drying conditions.

Material deliveries and labor get mixed

Board, compound, corner bead and lift hire are different costs from crew hours. When they end up in a message thread, it becomes difficult to explain a changed estimate or see why a small ceiling took longer than expected.

How Microtra helps

Keep the business connected.

Use the tools that fit your day, with your records ready on your phone or on the web.

Quote by the scope you measured

Use saved items, quantities and prices for board installation, finishing and other agreed tasks. Attach notes and photos to clarify rooms and exclusions. Microtra does not perform a drywall takeoff or choose the right material specification.

Keep each property recognizable

Link the client and property record, then put room names, access and work instructions in the job details. The next conversation can refer to the same location even when the client has several properties.

Place the crew's visits deliberately

Create appointments linked to the job and assign staff. Separate hanging from finishing and final touch-ups where appropriate. Working hours and time off help you plan, while you decide when the site is ready.

Connect labor to the work

Use a job timer or add time manually, linked to staff and tasks. Review the entries before creating a time-and-materials invoice so an extra sanding visit is explained instead of hidden inside a general labor line.

Bill the agreed stage

Create progress invoices from the estimate and record payments received through your existing method. Save expenses with receipt photos for deliveries and hire. Reports help review recorded costs; they do not certify completion or approve a stage for the client.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Walk the rooms

Confirm board requirements, ceiling access, existing surfaces and the expected finish. Record exclusions before preparing the estimate; a decorator's later work should not silently become part of your price.

  2. Arrange hanging and finishing

Set the job appointments and assign the people needed for each stage. Keep delivery arrangements in the job notes so materials and the crew arrive to a usable site.

  3. Record the extra opening

If another trade changes an opening or damages a finished area, discuss the added scope. Update notes, materials and hours rather than allowing the original estimate to tell an incomplete story.

  4. Review the stage invoice

Check the agreed work, approved additions and recorded labor before sharing the invoice PDF from your device. Record the payment separately and leave clear notes for the remaining visit.

A few useful answers

Questions from drywall contractors.

Can Microtra calculate how many sheets I need?

It does not provide a specialist takeoff. Measure and calculate requirements using your chosen method, then enter the resulting items and quantities in the estimate. Check waste, openings and material suitability before presenting the scope.

How are contracting records named?

Trades & construction uses Job, Client and Properties. These labels let you connect a site with its work. Stock starts off for this setup; enable inventory in Modules & terms before using material counts or purchasing tools.

Can I separate crew time from board costs?

Yes. Time entries can link staff hours to work and tasks, while expenses hold material costs and receipt photos. Review both before invoicing and describe your agreed billing basis instead of assuming every recorded hour is billable.

Does it manage drying or finishing specifications?

No. Use your trade process to determine readiness, finish quality and the sequence of coats. Microtra helps organize appointments, notes and costs around those decisions; it does not assess moisture, calculate drying time or inspect the finish.
