Software for contracting business owners

Keep the agreed project visible as work moves on.

A remodeling job can begin with demolition and finish with a punch list, with purchases and decisions between those stages. Microtra connects the business records around that work so a contractor can explain the estimate, track effort and prepare the next invoice.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

A short description hides the boundaries

Kitchen work may include removal, preparation and fitting while excluding specialist work arranged separately. If the estimate does not explain those boundaries, the customer and contractor may expect different outcomes from the same project title.

Changes reach the crew before the office

A different fixture or an additional repair can be discussed while work is underway. When the business record stays unchanged, the final invoice is harder to explain and materials may be bought without a clear approval trail.

Project money moves at different times

Supplier bills, equipment hire and labor costs do not wait until the customer is invoiced. A stack of completed tasks does not show the owner which costs have been entered or which issued invoices remain outstanding.

Site information gets retold

Parking, access windows, delivery arrangements and the contact on site matter to every visit. Repeating them from memory wastes time and makes it easier for the wrong version of an instruction to reach a worker.

How Microtra helps

Keep the business connected.

Use the tools that fit your day, with your records ready on your phone or on the web.

Build an estimate the client can read

Use reusable items, quantities and your own prices for labor, materials and agreed project stages. Prepare progress invoices from estimates when appropriate. Microtra does not measure drawings, calculate construction takeoffs or produce project designs.

Connect the client to the site

Save Client details and linked Properties with site context, business notes, estimates and invoice history. Use your own controlled process for security credentials and formal project documentation rather than placing sensitive information in ordinary shared notes.

Organize visits and assigned people

Create job appointments, assign staff and maintain task notes as the project develops. Confirm dependencies and outside contractor availability directly. The app keeps your scheduled work; it does not produce an engineered construction program.

Keep labor and purchases accountable

Record job time, expenses and receipt photos, then review the costs behind completed work. Inventory starts off in Trades & construction; switch it on in Modules & terms before using stock records for materials held by the business.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Make the walkthrough specific

Identify the requested result, existing conditions and work that needs professional assessment. Discuss included stages and exclusions with the client before turning the conversation into a priced estimate.

  2. Confirm the commercial plan

Review the descriptions, quantities and billing stages. Arrange the first site appointment and the people involved, while checking permits, specialist qualifications and other obligations through appropriate authorities and qualified professionals.

  3. Pause for a scope change

If the client requests additional work, discuss its effect on the agreement and update the estimate before proceeding. Keep the revised business description available so purchasing, site work and billing reflect the same decision.

  4. Close a stage with clear paperwork

Compare the stage supplied with the estimate and recorded costs. Share the invoice PDF from your device, record payment received elsewhere and keep remaining work distinct from work already billed.

A few useful answers

Questions from contracting business owners.

Does this include construction takeoff software?

Microtra does not perform drawing takeoffs, structural calculations or specialist construction estimating. You enter quantities and prices from your own estimating process, then use the app to organize the commercial estimate and resulting invoices.

Can an estimate lead to progress invoices?

Progress invoices from estimates are available. Check each invoice against your agreement and the work supplied, keeping earlier billed stages and approved changes clear. The app does not decide contractual entitlement to payment.

Which terms appear when a contractor starts?

Trades & construction uses Job and Client with linked Properties enabled. Stock starts off and must be enabled in Modules & terms before you use it to track held materials.

Is this a substitute for professional bookkeeping advice?

The app records expenses, payments and business reports backed by a ledger. It does not replace a qualified accountant or determine your tax treatment. Accounting sync is coming soon; review appropriate exports with your adviser.
