Show the elevations behind a siding estimate
An exterior can have the same wall area but very different trim, corners and access. Build a siding estimate from the elevations, then name the cladding profile, finish and details around openings. This sample splits removal, replacement siding and window trim. It leaves a clear place for sheathing discoveries, weather protection and who handles fixtures attached to the wall.

[Attach elevation sketches and specify siding profile, color and finish.]
[Describe corners, starter details, openings and transitions included.]
[Identify sheathing and moisture conditions assumed before removal.]
[Confirm handling of lights, outlets, downspouts and other attached fixtures.]
How to use the template.
- Survey each elevation and note height, obstacles and the installation access needed.
- Measure wall areas and detail trim separately, explaining your treatment of openings.
- Specify cladding, water-management details and finish responsibilities with enough detail to identify the proposed assembly.
- Separate known repairs from concealed sheathing conditions. State how discoveries and temporary protection will be handled.
- Check the fixture and trim list with the owner so reinstallation work does not become an overlooked assumption.
Useful answers.
Why separate trim from wall area?
Windows, doors, corners and transitions add work that a simple wall-area total can hide. Describe those details even if your final offer uses a combined project price.
Can I estimate siding without removing the old material?
You can estimate from an inspection while stating what remains concealed. Explain substrate assumptions and the process for assessing damage after removal.
Who removes exterior lights and downspouts?
Assign that responsibility in the scope, including any work requiring another qualified trade. Do not assume every wall-mounted item is part of ordinary siding installation.
Keep exploring.
