Software for general contractors

Keep the agreed project visible as the site changes.

A kitchen remodel, a repair package and a small addition bring together scope, people and purchases over several visits. Microtra connects the general contractor's client account, property job, appointments, recorded costs and invoices while the contractor manages the build and the specialist work it requires.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

The scope changes faster than the paperwork

A client may choose a different finish or add work during a site conversation. Keep the original estimate readable and record approved changes before they disappear into the build. A larger final bill should have an explanation the client can follow.

An appointment is only part of coordination

A trade visit depends on access, materials and earlier work being ready. Put your planned appointments and tasks with the job, but check readiness yourself. The next contractor should not arrive solely because a date was placed in the diary.

Money moves at different project stages

Supplier spending, staff hours and progress payments happen on different days. Keep each record connected to the work so a payment received is not confused with profit or with the amount still needed to complete the project.

How Microtra helps

Keep the business connected.

Use the tools that fit your day, with your records ready on your phone or on the web.

Describe the package you are offering

Create estimates with reusable items, quantities, labor, notes and photos. Distinguish allowances, exclusions and agreed work in plain language. Microtra does not read construction drawings, perform a takeoff or create a specialist project program.

Keep the client and site together

Save contact details, billing preferences and linked property records. Add tasks, notes, status and costs to the job so the business agreement remains close to the site work without relying on a single person's message history.

Organize your planned visits

Create appointments linked to jobs and assign staff. Review working hours, time off and your own readiness checks before confirming a visit. Detailed construction sequencing, external subcontractor coordination and technical approvals remain in your chosen project process.

Follow the hours and the purchases

Use time entries linked to staff, work and tasks, with expense details and receipt photos for business costs. Inventory starts off; enable it in Modules & terms before using stock, suppliers and purchase orders for materials.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Establish the proposed work

Review the site and client brief, identify exclusions and calculate quantities through your own methods. Prepare the estimate from the agreed scope rather than implying a preliminary conversation settled every detail of the build.

  2. Set up the working record

Link the property, create the job and add useful tasks and notes. Arrange appointments directly after checking materials, access and coordination with the people involved; the schedule reflects decisions you have made.

  3. Capture an approved change

Discuss the effect on price and work before proceeding. Update relevant estimate items and job notes, and record labor and costs against the project so the additional work remains understandable when invoiced.

  4. Review the account at each stage

Check completed scope, approved additions and recorded payments before sharing a progress or final invoice. Keep the client informed about remaining work and balance, rather than allowing payment status to imply technical completion.

A few useful answers

Questions from general contractors.

Does Microtra replace construction management software?

It provides general jobs, estimates, appointments, time, costs and invoices. It does not provide building information modeling, drawing control or a critical-path construction schedule. Use specialist project tools and professional procedures where your work needs them.

Can I compare job income and recorded costs?

Reports can show recorded income, expenses and outstanding invoices, including views by job. Review the entries and the project's remaining commitments before drawing conclusions; the software does not forecast every future cost or guarantee a project margin.

What labels are used for contractor work?

Trades & construction starts with Job, Client and Properties. A site can stay linked to the client while each job holds its work details. This general structure does not replace a subcontract agreement, site inspection record or technical approval process.

Will the app send progress invoices automatically?

Server email delivery is coming soon. Review each invoice yourself and share its PDF through your device. Record payment received by your existing method; issuing a document does not collect money or establish that the client has accepted the stage.
