Lawn care pricing calculator
A mowable lawn, the time needed to reach it and the finish the customer expects all affect a visit price. Compare an area-based charge with a charge built from your hourly rate and mowing speed. Add edging and bagging separately, then multiply the visit price by the frequency you are quoting.
Visit and monthly totals
Enter the lawn, your pricing method, travel and visit frequency to see a price.
The formulas
Rectangular area = length × width.
Area-based mowing price = square feet ÷ 1,000 × your area rate.
Hourly mowing price = (square feet ÷ square feet mowed per hour) × your hourly rate.
Travel charge = round-trip minutes ÷ 60 × your travel hourly rate.
Visit price = mowing + travel + edging + bagging. Monthly price = visit price × visits per month.
How it works.
- Measure the grass you will mow, excluding the house, driveway, beds and other non-lawn areas. Enter square feet directly, or use length and width for a rectangular lawn. Break an irregular lawn into sections before totaling its area.
- Choose your rate per thousand square feet, or enter an hourly rate and your own mowing productivity. Slopes, narrow gates, play equipment and turning space can make your measured speed different from an open lawn.
- Add round-trip travel minutes and the hourly charge you allocate to travel. Enter separate visit charges for edging and bagging, using zero for anything already included in the mowing price.
- Set the number of visits for the month you are pricing. Review the visit and monthly totals against fuel, equipment, disposal and overhead. No rate is supplied by the tool, and your inputs remain in the browser.
Useful answers.
Should I enter lot size or grass area?
Enter mowable grass area. A property lot can include buildings, paving, planting beds and other ground you will not mow. Measuring those as lawn would distort an area-based charge and the time estimate.
Which pricing method should I use?
An area rate can be useful when you have a consistent service and know the lawn conditions. The hourly method makes your own productivity assumption visible. Compare both with completed jobs and include the costs your rates need to recover.
Are edging and bagging included automatically?
No. You enter the charges separately. Use zero if a service is not included or is already covered by your mowing rate, and make the scope clear to the customer. The tool does not estimate disposal fees or choose a bagging charge.
Does the monthly result assume a fixed mowing schedule?
It uses only the visit frequency you enter. Growth, weather and customer preferences can change actual visits, so check the month being quoted. A fractional frequency can model an average, but it is not a promise that every month has that many visits.
Keep exploring.
