Scope a video proposal from shoot day to final export

Video work continues after the camera stops. A videography proposal should connect the production brief, capture plan and editing deliverables so a client can see what the total buys. This interview-video estimate separates a small shoot, an edit and caption preparation. It asks you to define runtime, aspect ratios, revision rounds and client-supplied assets before a short finished video becomes an unlimited production request.

[Attach the brief, shot list, location plan and expected finished runtime.]

[List delivery aspect ratios, caption formats and music or asset permissions to resolve.]

How to use the template.

  1. Discuss the audience and purpose before writing the production scope. Identify where the finished video will be used.
  2. Build the shoot plan around interview availability, location sound, lighting conditions and access.
  3. Describe edit deliverables by version, runtime and format. Keep additional cutdowns distinct from the main edit.
  4. Agree a consolidated feedback process and boundaries for revisions or new creative direction.
  5. Confirm responsibility for permissions and supplied assets, then review the final estimate against the production brief.

Useful answers.

Does a shoot day include the finished video?

Not by itself. Explain the editing, sound work, graphics and exports included after capture. A production proposal should connect those stages clearly.

How should extra social cutdowns be quoted?

List the number and format of versions you will produce, with the editing and caption changes needed. A new aspect ratio may require more than exporting the same timeline.

Who provides music and brand assets?

Assign responsibility for supplying and clearing each asset. Identify any purchase allowance separately and seek qualified advice for rights questions rather than assuming supplied files can always be used.
