Give a sign proposal a production specification
A storefront sign proposal should connect the approved artwork to the object you will fabricate and install. Dimensions, substrate, finish, mounting surface and access all affect that promise. This nonilluminated panel example separates artwork preparation, fabrication and fitting. It leaves electrical work and permit matters outside the base estimate unless separately assessed, and asks the customer to approve a proof through your own process before production.

[Exclude electrical work, structural alterations and unassessed permission costs.]
How to use the template.
- Ask where the sign will be viewed and obtain usable artwork. Confirm the text and brand assets the customer is authorized to supply.
- Survey the mounting location and specify dimensions, materials, finishing and hardware.
- Separate creative work from fabrication so later artwork changes have a clear effect on the estimate.
- Describe installation equipment, access and any work assigned to another contractor. Refer permission questions to the appropriate authority.
- Use a documented proof review before fabrication, then keep the approved version with the order records.
Useful answers.
Does the estimate itself approve the artwork?
No. Use a separate, clear proof review through your normal process. Record the artwork version, dimensions and customer confirmation before production.
What changes for an illuminated sign?
Electrical supply, lighting components, enclosure details and installation responsibilities need their own assessment. The nonilluminated panel sample should not be treated as an illuminated-sign specification.
Should removal of an existing sign be included?
Include it only after checking the old mounting and removal access. Describe disposal, wall repairs and any electrical disconnection separately where they apply.
Keep exploring.
