Distinguish the shoot from the deliverables
A photography commission can include planning, capture, post-production and a defined set of final images. Those are easier to understand when the invoice names the deliverables and references the accepted usage terms. This example is for a small business brand session; it does not silently add copyright transfers, raw files or unlimited revisions.

How to use the template.
- Match the invoice to the accepted brief, including the shoot location and commissioning client rather than only a contact who attended.
- Describe coverage separately from final deliverables when they were priced that way. Check that editing included in a package has not been duplicated.
- Reference the existing usage agreement instead of introducing fresh license terms through an invoice. Identify approved extra retouching or file requests.
- Reconcile the booking payment and completed delivery milestone, then review the editable document before issuing the final copy.
Useful answers.
Should raw files appear on the invoice?
Only when raw-file supply was part of the agreement or separately approved. Delivering edited images does not by itself establish that source files were sold.
How do I describe image usage?
Use a concise reference to the accepted license or commissioning agreement. Have qualified legal advice for the terms themselves rather than relying on a billing line to define rights.
Can editing be billed before final delivery?
Use the milestone the client accepted and describe its status accurately. A selection gallery, editing stage and final file delivery are distinct events.
Keep exploring.
