A home repair estimate with visible assumptions
A repair estimate is easier to assess when the client can see where the work starts and stops. This home repair estimate template uses a fictional damaged-trim repair to separate removal, replacement and finish work. It does not assume that the visible damage tells you everything behind the surface.

How to use the template.
- Measure the affected area and describe the condition you can actually observe.
- Break the proposed work into removal, supply, installation and finishing as appropriate to your repair method.
- Price from expected labor, materials, overhead and the agreed scope; explain any allowance awaiting selection.
- Make exclusions and additional-work approvals visible before sharing the reviewed PDF or edited DOCX.
Useful answers.
Should I estimate a full room when only part is damaged?
State the exact repair boundary. If matching the retained finish may require a wider area, explain that option separately instead of leaving the client to assume it is included.
What happens if concealed damage appears?
Pause the affected work, document what was found and follow the agreed approval process for a revised scope and price. The original estimate should make that uncertainty visible.
Is an estimate the same as a repair agreement?
No. This is a proposed pricing document. Use an appropriately reviewed agreement to establish responsibilities and legal terms for the project.
Keep exploring.
