Quote electrical work by circuits, fittings and access
A useful electrical estimate explains which locations are included and what must be accessible when the electrician arrives. Use this sample to distinguish circuit work, device replacement and fixture installation. Existing wiring condition, wall repair and owner-supplied equipment deserve explicit assumptions before the client accepts a price.

| Description | Quantity / unit | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Install quoted branch-circuit run along the surveyed accessible route | 1 circuit scope | $480.00 | $480.00 |
| Replace specified receptacles in identified rooms | 4 devices | $45.00 | $180.00 |
| Fit owner-supplied pendant at existing suitable ceiling point | 2 fixtures | $85.00 | $170.00 |
| Label work and prepare agreed handover information | 1 completion task | $65.00 | $65.00 |
Total (USD): $895.00
Example: quantities and dollar amounts describe an invented job and are not electrical rates or a design recommendation.
[Attach locations, fixture specifications and assumptions from the site visit.]
[State who supplies devices and fixtures, and whether finish repairs are excluded.]
[Replace assumptions about access or existing wiring with verified project information.]
[Add applicable tax, payment terms, proposal validity and the approval process; do not start from this sample alone.]
How to use the template.
- Walk the intended work areas and document the locations and equipment included. An estimate is not a substitute for evaluating the installation.
- Break out circuit routes, device counts and supplied fixtures using units you can verify against your survey.
- Identify access restrictions, outage coordination and work by other trades. State how a concealed condition will trigger a revised proposal.
- Calculate your own labor, material and overhead costs, then replace every fictional figure and review any local approval questions with the proper authority.
- Send the scope and estimate together, asking the authorized client to approve the same revision you retain.
Useful answers.
Should the estimate include repairing opened walls?
Say explicitly whether patching, decoration and disposal are included or assigned elsewhere. A route that requires wall openings should not leave the client guessing about restoration.
How do I price work when cable access is uncertain?
Document the uncertainty and agree an investigation or change process before committing to an unsupported fixed scope. Do not present the sample's accessible route as a fact about the client's property.
Can I use this for fixture-only work?
Remove unrelated circuit lines and identify each fixture location, supply responsibility and condition assumption. The edited document should describe the actual proposed work, not every service your business offers.
Keep exploring.
