Software for masonry contractors

Price the wall you inspected, with the preparation it needs.

Brick repair, blockwork and repointing can look similar on a short request and demand very different work on site. Build an estimate that explains the measured scope, access and finish before the client sees the total.

Make room for the real work.

  • Brickwork repointing
  • Small block wall construction
  • Damaged brick replacement
  • Garden wall repair
  • Stone veneer installation
  • Masonry step rebuilding

How it works.

  1. Capture conditions before calculating materials

Note the wall area, joint condition, damaged units, access and protection required around adjacent surfaces. Record which faces and edges are included. Trades & construction setup uses Job, Client and Properties in Microtra, so the surveyed site and the work description can stay connected to the estimate you are preparing.

  2. Choose units that reveal what is included

Describe repointing by the measured scope, masonry units by count where appropriate, and preparation or removal as separate work. Include mortar handling, cutting, disposal and finish details when they belong in the agreement. Check your own quantity calculations and material allowance before entering them; Microtra holds the estimate rather than surveying the structure for you.

  3. Account for working conditions in your price

Review your labor assumptions, material information, equipment needs and overhead. Difficult access, careful matching of existing brick and protection around a finished patio can affect the effort. Use saved items for familiar services, but verify their quantities and your own prices for this site. Explain assumptions about concealed damage or areas that could not be inspected.

    See the invoicing feature
  4. Compare the completed work with the plan

Share the estimate PDF through your device and agree any changed scope directly. During the job, keep time and relevant expenses with the work, including receipt photos for purchased materials. Review those records before pricing a similar wall so extra cutting, setup or removal work does not disappear into a remembered total.

Useful answers.

Does the software perform a masonry takeoff?

You measure the work and calculate material quantities using your own process. Enter checked quantities, units and prices on the estimate; this page does not promise drawing measurement, structural design or an automated takeoff.

How do I explain uncertain matching work?

Describe the visible condition, the proposed material and what must be confirmed before proceeding. Keep matching assumptions separate from definite work so the client understands what the estimate is based on.

Can I show demolition separately from rebuilding?

Use distinct descriptions for careful removal, debris handling, preparation and new masonry where those stages form part of the scope. This makes it easier to discuss a change without making the entire wall estimate ambiguous.

What if opening the wall reveals additional damage?

Document what was found, discuss the revised work with the client and prepare an updated estimate before undertaking the addition. Retain enough description to distinguish the agreed original scope from the newly discovered work.
