Software for fence contractors
A gate is more than another length of fence.
Fence length gives you a starting point, but corners, gates, ground conditions and removal can change the work. Use Microtra to turn the measurements and specification you have checked into an estimate with understandable line items. Keep the fence system, access arrangements and exclusions visible before materials are ordered.

How it works.
Record the agreed fence specification
Describe the material, finish, height and extent of each run in the Job notes, linked to the Client and Properties information. Note slopes, corners, access restrictions and the gate openings you measured. Confirm boundary and site information through your normal process; a stored estimate is not a boundary survey or a decision about the permitted fence position.
See the jobs featureSeparate runs from special components
Use quantities and units that match the work: linear feet for a defined run, individual posts, gates, hardware sets or removal sections where appropriate. Keep gate framing and latches distinct when their specification needs explanation. Reusable items save retyping, but check the actual post spacing, fixing method and material needs for the particular site.

Include the labor and materials behind the visible panels. Think through excavation, concrete, delivery, restricted access and disposal of the existing fence. Record business expenses and receipt photos as costs arise. If you want to manage physical materials in stock, switch the inventory module on in Modules & terms before using that additional workflow.
See the expenses featureMake a changed gate or run easy to follow
Walk through the estimate with the client and clarify whether staining, vegetation clearance or reinstatement is included. When a gate opening or material changes, agree the revised scope directly and update the work record. Use the estimate as the basis for progress invoices, keeping document descriptions specific enough to distinguish installation from later finishing work.

Useful answers.
Will this measure a fence from a property map?
Microtra works with the measurements and quantities you enter. Measure the runs and check the site yourself; this page does not promise map takeoffs, boundary verification or a fence design tool.
How should I quote a mixture of fence materials?
Give each specified run its own description and quantity. Distinguish the material, finish and installation method so the client can see which part of the boundary each item covers.
Can gates be priced separately?
Yes. Create separate items for gates and associated hardware or installation work. Describe opening size and the agreed specification in your own terms rather than treating every gate as an interchangeable unit.
What if old posts cannot be removed as expected?
Record the condition, discuss the alternative approach and agree any change through your normal process. Keep the revised scope clear so the final invoice reflects the work authorized and performed.
Keep exploring.
