Connect fabrication charges to the approved piece
Welding work may be a shop-fabricated assembly, an on-site repair or a mixture of both. The bill should identify the piece, the drawing or repair reference and the finish supplied. This example concerns a fabricated steel bracket set; it does not serve as an engineering approval, inspection certificate or claim about a component's suitability.

[Identify drawing revision, assembly quantity, material description and agreed finish.]
[Reference delivery or collection and any separate inspection documentation.]
How to use the template.
- Match the completed assembly with the approved drawing revision or repair instruction. Do not bill a later design change under the original description.
- Reconcile supplied material with customer-owned stock, offcuts and any agreed minimum purchase. Keep consumables included in the labor rate from being charged again.
- Identify outsourced finishing, site travel or separate inspection only where it was agreed and actually supplied.
- Enter delivery and invoice dates, check previous payments and review quantities against the handover record before issuing the bill.
Useful answers.
How do I bill customer-supplied metal?
Identify it as customer supplied and charge only for the agreed work and other materials you provided. Keep any quality or suitability concern in the appropriate work record.
Should testing appear on the invoice?
Describe a separately agreed test or inspection accurately and reference its own report. An invoice does not establish that a weld meets a specification or has passed inspection.
Can shop and site work use different units?
They can when the customer accepted that arrangement. Identify the location and unit clearly, especially where travel or site setup was separately priced.
Keep exploring.
