A room-by-room move-out cleaning checklist
Use this task sheet after a walkthrough, not as a promise that every property needs the same work. Agree whether cupboards are empty, appliances are included and utilities are available. Mark exclusions before the crew starts and leave space for the final walkthrough.

How to use the template.
- Walk through the property and agree which rooms, surfaces and appliance interiors are included.
- Edit the DOCX to remove tasks you are not contracted or trained to perform. Add property-specific access and safety notes.
- Print or annotate the PDF for the crew and mark completed tasks as work progresses.
- Record exceptions instead of checking a box for work that could not be done.
- Use the final sheet for a handover discussion and keep it with your job records through your own process.
Useful answers.
Does this cover carpet extraction or exterior windows?
Only include specialist work if you have agreed it and can do it safely with suitable equipment. The sample lists ordinary room tasks; edit the scope before giving the sheet to the crew.
Will completing the list guarantee a tenant's deposit?
No. Deposit decisions depend on the lease, property condition and applicable law. Use the sheet to document your agreed cleaning work rather than promising an outcome you do not control.
Can I change the list for an occupied property?
Yes. Use the editable DOCX to adapt access, belongings and permitted tasks. Agree the changes with the authorized contact before starting work.
Keep exploring.
