A copywriting proposal with deliverables a client can review

A page count does not explain the work behind persuasive copy. Research, subject-matter interviews, positioning and review can take more effort than the final draft suggests. Use this proposal to distinguish the agreed assets from the inputs, feedback and additional formats that could change the assignment.

[Name each page or asset, intended audience, approximate scope and delivery format.]

[Specify who supplies product facts, substantiates claims and approves the copy.]

[Define included review rounds and the point at which a new brief needs a new quote.]

[State whether publishing, design, keyword research, translations or additional channels are excluded.]

How to use the template.

  1. Turn the brief into a named asset list instead of quoting only a word count.
  2. List discovery work and information the client must provide before drafting begins.
  3. Define a consolidated feedback process and distinguish revision from a change of audience or offer.
  4. Price your actual research, writing and review effort, then replace the fictional lines before sending the proposal.

Useful answers.

Should every project use a price per word?

Choose a basis that fits the assignment and explain it clearly. A short landing page may require substantial research and review, so word count alone may not represent the work.

How do I handle several people reviewing the copy?

Ask for one authorized contact to consolidate feedback. State when comments are due and how conflicting or later instructions will affect the proposed scope.

Does this proposal promise search rankings or sales?

No. Describe the research and copy deliverables you control. Do not turn an estimate for writing services into a guarantee of traffic, rankings or customer purchases.
