Price the defined bookkeeping workload
Begin a bookkeeping proposal with the shape of the records, not an unexplained monthly total. Count the accounts involved, identify unreconciled periods and describe the reports the client expects. This estimate sample distinguishes opening cleanup from an agreed recurring cycle so the client can see what is being priced and which assumptions could change the scope.

Example: figures and workload units are fictional, not bookkeeping market rates or a commitment to service.
[List included accounts, periods, record availability and volume assumptions.]
[Define the recurring service cycle and distinguish it from backlog cleanup.]
[Describe excluded services, required client approvals and the revision process.]
[Add applicable tax, proposal acceptance method and separately reviewed engagement terms.]
How to use the template.
- Request a record inventory and identify missing statements before estimating effort; do not assume every opening balance is reconciled.
- Describe what an account-period or report package includes so the units can be compared with the client records.
- Show setup, backlog and recurring work separately, then explain how additional entities or accounts will be assessed.
- Replace the fictional amounts with your own calculation, review exclusions and issue the proposal alongside appropriate engagement terms.
Useful answers.
How do I quote records I have not inspected?
State what you have reviewed and what remains unknown. Offer a defined assessment step or a conditional scope instead of treating incomplete records as a confirmed workload.
What is an account-period in the example?
It is a labeled sample unit for reconciling a specified account over a specified reporting period. Replace it with your actual billing unit and identify the accounts and dates covered.
Does a proposal promise financial assurance?
No. Describe the reports and bookkeeping services you actually offer. Do not suggest an audit, assurance opinion or tax conclusion unless that work is appropriately qualified and separately defined.
Keep exploring.
