Software for repair shop owners
Plan the bay around work you can actually begin.
A vehicle dropped off for investigation is different from a parts-ready repair or a quick collection. Keep that distinction visible when you arrange the shop day. Microtra links appointments to the Job and assigned staff, helping you organize arrivals and repair work while you remain responsible for bay availability, parts readiness and the promises made to each owner.
Make room for the real work.
- Vehicle drop-off for diagnosis
- Brake inspection appointment
- Parts-ready repair slot
- Fluid service visit
- Road-test time after repair
- Collection after agreed work
How it works.
Separate arrival from the repair commitment
Note whether the owner is waiting, leaving the vehicle or arranging transport. Put the complaint, vehicle identifiers and access details in the Job. Trades & construction starts with Job and Client labels; it does not start with a specialist vehicle record. Make clear what the scheduled appointment promises before confirming it.
See the jobs featureReview people and available working time
Assign the appointment to staff and check their working hours, lunch breaks and time off. Consider your own bay and equipment constraints before reserving the work. A brake repair, diagnostic investigation and alignment-related handoff can affect the day differently; the software does not infer those workshop dependencies from the appointment title.
See the team featureAdjust the plan when inspection changes it
If a seized component or unavailable part changes the work, speak with the owner and move the appointment yourself. Update tasks and status so the reason for a delayed repair is visible. Check surrounding work before accepting another vehicle, including the time needed to test and clear the bay.
See the jobs featureLeave a clear handoff for collection
Update the repair details before the collection conversation. Prepare an invoice that explains parts and labor, share the PDF from your device and record payment received elsewhere. Keep any unresolved concern in the Job notes so the person handing back the keys can explain what was completed and what was deferred.

Useful answers.
Can an appointment cover a drop-off without promising completion?
Yes. Describe it as a drop-off or diagnostic visit and explain the arrangement directly to the owner. Put the scope and collection discussion in the Job notes. Choose an appropriate work appointment separately when you know what the repair needs and when parts are available.
Will Microtra automatically balance repair bays and lifts?
This page describes owner-managed appointments and staff availability. You decide whether a lift, diagnostic tool or bay is suitable and free. Review dependencies yourself before confirming a slot; no automatic workshop capacity model or repair sequencing is promised here.
Can vehicle owners choose a public booking slot?
Public online booking is coming soon. Arrange the appointment directly after learning the concern and whether the vehicle will stay at the shop. That conversation helps distinguish a waiting service from an investigation whose duration cannot be known until the technician checks it.
Does a moved appointment notify the owner automatically?
Server email and SMS reminders are coming soon. Contact the owner through your usual channel when the plan changes. Update the appointment and related notes after agreeing the new arrangement so staff handling the next conversation can see the same plan.
Keep exploring.
