Software for roofing contractors

Explain more than the roof covering.

A roof estimate needs to show what happens to the existing material, which details are included and what you could inspect. Enter your own measurements and specification, then use Microtra to turn that work into line items and notes a client can review before agreeing the job.

Make room for the real work.

  • Roof covering replacement
  • Flashing repair estimate
  • Flat roof repair proposal
  • Tear-off and disposal scope
  • Deck repair allowance after inspection
  • Vent and penetration detail work

How it works.

  1. Record the survey assumptions

Use job notes for the roof area, access observations and limits of the inspection. Identify whether your estimate assumes existing decking can remain. Take measurements and assess the construction yourself; the business record cannot replace a professional survey or determine safe access.

    See the jobs feature
  2. Separate materials from enabling work

Enter covering quantities, underlayment, flashing and other specified components as readable items. Distinguish tear-off labor, disposal and access arrangements where they form part of the scope. Verify supplier quantities and your waste allowance before entering prices and markups.

    See the invoicing feature
  3. Make uncertain work visible

Explain any allowance for concealed deck damage and which details are excluded. Describe whether gutters, penetrations or insulation are included rather than relying on a replacement roof label. Discuss a revised scope with the client before treating an inspection finding as approved additional work.

    See the invoicing feature
  4. Review the document through the billing stages

Share the estimate PDF from your device after checking units, tax settings and notes. Progress invoices can come from the estimate. Compare each invoice with agreed stages and prior billing, especially when access or weather has changed the work sequence.

Useful answers.

Can Microtra measure a roof from an address?

This page describes preparing the estimate from measurements you supply. It does not promise aerial measurement, automated takeoff or a roof design tool. Verify dimensions and material requirements through your own inspection and estimating process.

How do I show waste without using a universal allowance?

Calculate it from the roof geometry, material format, cutting requirements and your supplier's guidance. Keep the purchased quantity and unit understandable. A generic allowance should not override the actual layout and specification.

What should I say about decking I cannot inspect?

Explain that limitation and describe the basis of any allowance. Identify how you will discuss additional work before proceeding. Ask a qualified professional to review contractual language rather than treating an estimate note as legal advice.

Is this roofing estimating software free?

See the pricing page for Microtra plan information. The estimate workflow described here is part of the business software; this page does not promise a permanently free roofing package. A separate invoice generator is available under Tools.
