Software for music teachers

Let the lesson start with music instead of admin.

The start of a lesson is a poor time to reconstruct which parent receives the invoice. Keep the teaching arrangement, schedule and commercial history accessible so you can spend the lesson making music rather than searching the account.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

The student and the payer can be different people

A parent may coordinate a young student's lessons while another contact handles billing. Clearly recorded administrative details help avoid asking about an unpaid invoice at the start of teaching.

Preparation does not appear in the lesson slot

Selecting repertoire, preparing exercises and traveling to a home visit take working time. Seeing only the lesson duration can hide how much of the week an arrangement really uses.

Changes need an agreed teaching policy

A moved lesson, a missed visit and an additional rehearsal are different events. The teaching agreement should explain their commercial effect before you decide what belongs on an invoice.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Agree the teaching arrangement

Discuss instrument, format, location and the administrative contact. Explain your own rescheduling and billing terms clearly before placing lessons into the diary.

  2. Reserve preparation as well as attendance

Review your commitments and create the appointment for the agreed teaching. Keep tasks for any preparation so an introductory lesson does not arrive without the right materials.

  3. Teach and maintain the right records

Complete lesson planning and learning records through your teaching process. Update the business work notes only for agreed scope, attendance arrangements or the next administrative action.

  4. Review the account outside lesson time

Check the invoice description against the arrangement, share its PDF and record payment received elsewhere. Discuss any extra rehearsal or changed teaching plan directly with the payer.

A few useful answers

Questions from music teachers.

Does it include sheet music or learning assessment tools?

Microtra does not provide notation editing, music exercises or student progress assessment. It supports the business side of teaching: client details, scheduled work, time, expenses and invoices.

Will lessons be called Session by default?

This page uses Other, whose defaults are Job and Client. Linked records are off, as are packages. Review Modules & terms if you want to adapt optional modules for your business.

Can I arrange home lessons without public self-booking?

Yes. Agree the visit directly and create a scheduled appointment linked to the work. Public online booking is coming soon, so students do not reserve their own time through a public Microtra page.

How should I handle a missed lesson on the invoice?

Apply the terms you agreed with the client and describe the billed service clearly. The software records your billing decision; it does not choose a cancellation or rescheduling policy for you.
