Software for locksmiths

From the first call to the last lock check.

Before opening the van, you need a clear account of the lock problem and who has authorized the work. Bring the request, property details and approved repair into one business record so the paperwork keeps pace with your attendance.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

A short call can leave out the important detail

Door type, lock hardware, access arrangements and the person authorizing the work affect preparation. A bare address in a message leaves the next technician asking the same questions at the doorstep.

The first request may not be the final scope

A damaged cylinder or worn latch can change the work after inspection. The original callout and any additional hardware need a clear agreement before they become invoice lines.

Small parts disappear from the job's cost

Cylinders, strike plates, keys and consumables are easy to overlook beside labor. An invoice that only says lock repair gives the customer little context and makes your own review harder.

How Microtra helps

Keep the business connected.

Use the tools that fit your day, with your records ready on your phone or on the web.

Retain context for the next visit

Use client contacts and linked property records for site information. Keep administrative access instructions and the authorized contact close to the job, while handling identity checks and sensitive security information through your professional procedures.

Define the attendance and the repair

Create estimates with separate callout, labor and hardware items. Note exclusions and any work that depends on inspection, then revise the agreed scope if a replacement is needed instead of a repair.

See the work assigned to the van

Keep job status, tasks and notes with scheduled appointments and assigned staff. Review working hours and existing commitments before promising an arrival window; the schedule records the arrangement you make with the customer.

Understand the cost of the visit

Attach expense receipts for purchased hardware and record work time against the job. Compare those costs with the final invoice rather than assuming every urgent call contributes equally to the business.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Take a useful service request

Confirm the address, contact and reported lock problem. Establish authorization through your own process and note which information is still uncertain before scheduling attendance.

  2. Separate diagnosis from approval

Inspect the hardware, explain the proposed work and prepare or update the estimate. Clarify the callout, repair and replacement parts before proceeding.

  3. Record the completed work

Mark job tasks complete and capture the hardware and labor actually supplied. Add the receipt for parts bought during the visit so it stays with the business cost.

  4. Leave clear paperwork

Check the invoice descriptions with the customer, share the PDF through your device and record payment collected elsewhere. Keep a follow-up task if another part or return visit is needed.

A few useful answers

Questions from locksmiths.

Will the app identify a key or decode a lock?

Microtra does not provide key identification, key code lookup or lock decoding. It helps with the business records around the work: estimates, property context, scheduled jobs, costs and invoices.

Which labels appear for a locksmith business?

Trades & construction starts with Job, Client and Properties. Linked records are enabled for property context. Stock is off initially; turn it on in Modules & terms if you want to manage parts by location.

Can I price an emergency visit separately?

Use distinct saved items for the callout, approved labor and hardware. Set your own charges from your costs and terms, and explain them to the customer before completing the work.

Does it dispatch the closest technician automatically?

Microtra does not provide automatic dispatch or route optimization. Review your schedule and assign the job yourself, then confirm timing through your usual communication channel.
