Software for cottage food business owners

Give the home kitchen a clearer business record.

An order for preserves, granola or baked goods needs a customer, an agreed selection and a handoff plan. Microtra helps keep those commercial details with invoices and expenses, while recipes, permitted products and food handling remain part of your own qualified operating process.

The everyday details

You know the work.
The admin adds up.

The allowed product range needs separate checks

A product that works well in your kitchen is not automatically suitable for your sales arrangement. Keep official permission and labeling checks separate from customer order notes, and do not treat a software category as approval to sell.

Orders compete for preparation space

A market assortment and a custom customer pickup can use the same packaging or ingredients. A list of buyer names alone does not explain which selection belongs to each order or when the goods need to leave the kitchen.

Packaging deserves a line in the plan

Jar sizes, bag types, labels and gift presentation change what you must purchase and prepare. If those details remain a verbal request, the final order can be difficult to pack consistently or explain on the invoice.

Household and business purchases get mixed

A shopping trip can include both personal groceries and supplies for sale. Keep business spending identifiable through appropriate bookkeeping procedures so kitchen activity does not leave the owner guessing which receipt supports which business cost.

How Microtra helps

Keep the business connected.

Use the tools that fit your day, with your records ready on your phone or on the web.

Tie each selection to a customer

Create Customer contacts and Order details for the goods, quantities, packaging and agreed handoff. Bakery & food uses those terms. Linked records start off; enable them in Modules & terms before use. Keep specialist food documentation in appropriate professional procedures.

Describe exactly what was ordered

Prepare estimates or invoices with clear product names, units and approved additions. Share invoice PDFs through your device and record payments received elsewhere. The app does not assess a product's legal status or create compliant food labels.

Keep track of counted supplies

Use stock locations, physical counts, purchasing and wastage for supplies you choose to track. Label units consistently for jars, bags or purchased goods. Microtra does not provide recipe scaling, ingredient traceability or a food recall system.

Put business receipts in context

Enter expenses with receipt photos and useful categories for supplies, packaging and other costs. Review income and outstanding invoices with those records, using a qualified adviser for the tax and bookkeeping treatment that applies to your business.

A day in the life

From the first quote to paid.

  1. Check the proposed sale first

Use your state and local official guidance, and ask a qualified professional about permitted products, labeling and sales channels. Complete those checks through the appropriate process before promising a new product to a buyer.

  2. Confirm the assortment and handoff

Discuss the requested goods, quantity, presentation and collection arrangement. Put the commercial agreement into the order so another person helping with administration can tell what the customer is expecting.

  3. Prepare through your established food process

Follow your recipes, hygiene controls and labeling procedures. Check the counted packaging available for the order, keeping production and food safety records in the specialist process appropriate to your products.

  4. Close the business side of the sale

Review the supplied goods against the invoice, share the PDF from your device and record money received through your existing method. Enter business purchases and any tracked stock adjustments before starting another preparation cycle.

A few useful answers

Questions from cottage food business owners.

Does the app tell me which foods I may sell?

No. It does not determine product eligibility, inspect your kitchen or supply legal advice. Check relevant state and local official sources and consult a qualified adviser for decisions about your own food business.

Can I arrange collection times inside Microtra?

Bakery & food starts with scheduling off. Enable scheduling in Modules & terms before using appointments there, then enter the collection times you agree directly with customers. Order details remain the commercial record of the sale.

Will a recipe automatically reduce ingredient stock?

Microtra does not calculate recipe yields or automatically deduct ingredients from food production. Choose countable stock items, record movements deliberately and keep your recipe and production controls in the tools and procedures that support them.

Are online package sales part of this setup?

Online package sales are coming soon. Agree purchases through your established channel and create orders and invoices inside the app. Microtra card charging is coming soon; record payments taken through your existing arrangements.
